To cut the wallpaper to fit around outlets and switches, start by measuring the size and location of the outlet or switch on the wallpaper strip. Cut a piece of wallpaper slightly larger than the size of the outlet or switch, leaving a few inches of excess on each side. Hold the wallpaper up to the outlet or switch, then use a sharp utility knife to carefully cut out the hole for the outlet or switch. Be sure to make the cut slightly smaller than the actual size of the outlet or switch to ensure a snug fit. Smooth the wallpaper around the outlet or switch using a wallpaper smoothing brush or seam roller.
